How Great is Our God

I am listening to Chris Tomlin’s song “How Great is our God” off of his Arriving album and reeling in the truth of the words How Great Is Our God.  This week my husband and I were part of something both scary and exciting.  Two months ago I answered an email from Ellie Kay (www.elliekay.com) to be on ABC’s Nightline discussing the area of finances.  Why I answered it is really only a God thing because quite honestly, money talk is our marriage weakness.   The fact that money talk is our marriage weakness is not hidden from God, which, I believe, is why he created this opportunity for us.

The week leading up to the taping included stress, argument, sleeplessness, eye-daggers, and headaches.  Both Chris and I felt the attack of Satan and were ready to throw the opportunity out the window because we didn’t want the tension.  However, God is Great and despite our bad behaviors, He entered into our struggle and lifted us out of the quagmire of fear, angry words, and self-loathing feelings.

Friends, God is great and comes to our aid when we call.  During the taping of the show, a two day process, God’s peace reigned.  Part of the taping included a trip to a grocery store and clothing store with the kids- a scary prospect, but God reached down and answered the prayer for well-behaved children.  The crew, correspondent, and producer all commented on how well behaved and delightful the kids were- God is great.

Chris and I argued about small things previous to the taping and we sent out a plea to friends and family for prayer.  During the taping, Chris and I were asked to participate in an exercise which required us to say something we loved about the other.  A humanly impossible task considering our feelings had been hurt by each other, but God’s healing hand touched us and His love flowed as we spoke our love for each other.  God is great.

The crew needed to rearrange our front room for different shots and in the process redecorated for us.  After the crew left and Chris and I were putting things back, Chris asked if I had put some bags I had made into a basket that was behind Ellie’s head as we spoke with her.  I told him I thought he had done that.  We looked at each other and laughed because neither one of us had done that, God had.  Those bags are part of a project I am currently working on, one that I hope to one day publish a book about!  My friend and fellow author Pam Farrel (www.farrelcommunications.com) in her book Woman of Confidence encourages women to STEP into the adventure God has waiting for them.  I have started STEPping and God is blessing with getting my bags on camera- God is GREAT!

Will you allow God to show His strength through your weakness?  Will you allow yourself to deeply know How Great is Our God?

Reveal! We’re not afraid to take off the mask!

December 5, 2007 at 12:55 am (Uncategorized)

What mask are you wearing that you desperately wish could come off? How do the cares and struggles that lie just beyond the mask weigh you down? Where is the hope for revealing? Here at Reveal! we too, desire truth based on the Bible, which is why we created this blog sight. In our world where demands almost exceed available time, and the number of masks and hats we wear could take up a whole closet we are inundated with messages that put more pressure on us than give us hope. We believe we have to act and react in a certain way and when we fail to adhear to that unspoken rule, we feel guilty. This is not what God desires for our life. He desires for us to have rest (Matthew 11:28). He desires for us to have peace (1 Corinthians 14:33)) He desires for us to live an authentic life, a life He designed (Psalm 139:13-16)

Reveal! is a blog that will tackle the tough issues of revealing the person behind the mask, sex, church life, purpose as a single/wife/mother, media, and so much more. Our authentic, life-situation articles will provide Biblically based answes and tools. We desire your input. What is it that you would like to have revealed? Let us know
